holding tank gas burping

Our holding tank gives blow back up the pipe when you flush. We think the problem is a vent pipe that gets plugged and then the gas builds up. I have gone up on the roof twice and removed the vent cover and have run water down the pipe. This has solved the problem for awhile and then it will come back again. Our rig has a built in spray head that I use when we dump.

Any thoughts or solutions to this problem!

BTW, you cold of answered my question and provided another clue. :W
  • I also agree, that their could easily be a solid build up under the toilet. Get a bottle of unique digest it. Pour the entire bottle in and leave for 12 to 24 hours. Then flush black tank, and see if burping is gone. If it is gone then you probably had a solid waste build up. I had that problem and now I use Unique all the time and no more build up. Just follow instructions.
  • Im betting on a solid pile of "stuff" below where the toilet empties into the tank. I would fill the tank with water and let is sit for a few days....then flush/backflush several times. Perhaps a sewer snake to break up the solids that are blocking the area.

    just my guess...

  • My thought on this subject. Don't be smoking when the burping occurs. Because you may develop rapid acceleration to a different location.:E

    Options:
    Tank near full
Vent pipe too far into tank
    Vent pipe clogged.

    That covers it.
  • does it do the burping on the first flush after dumping or when?
  • I think manufacturers put the pipe too far down into the tank more often than not.
Your only fix, short of surgery, is to just empty more often. Figure out how full the tank has to be for this to happen and empty before that point.
With mine it's about 3/4 full.
  • Vent pipe too far into tank.
When up on roof did you notice if end of vent pipe was below roof line....should be almost even with roof line or slightly above.

Too far into tank and then it gets blocked off as level rises.
