call a hitch shop and see what they charge- I got the base plate, wiring and install done on our Escape for 750-800.00 (it was awhile ago)- I'm not too good at doing those type of installs.
I called the two shops in our area and the other shop was 350 higher.
I did find a deal on a used Aventa tow bar with cables and a brake buddy for 400.00 - it was great deal!! I couldn't find any used base plates - try looking on the Escapees and other forums that allow for sale items.
