Having some sewer work done on the house, so I'm thinking why not add a RV dump point? Thinking 3-4 inches high in the flower bed.Any thoughts? Yay or nay? Where would I look for fittings, caps, lids etc.Norm

Sounds like a good idea to me. The guys doing the sewer work should be able to tell you. I suspect a typical cleanout pipe would work just fine.

I did it when I got my 1st MH 20yrs ago... (in the flower bed, even). I've seen dire warnings in other threads on here. Will overwhelm the system with volume, wrong chemicals, chemicals will ruin your septic system and on and on. The only thing is can tell you is from my experience (nothing theoretical). We used our MH to go to the races. My wife and I were out 1 or 2 nights a week from Feb thru Nov. Always dry camped in the race track parking lot and used the water and toilet at will. We would even party with friends from time to time.I never had any problems with my home septic system in the 15 years I dumped into it and the system passed inspection when we sold the house.

We had one put in when we installed our septic system, and a friend recently added one to his city sewer line. Just make sure you've got your elevations right and you should be fine.

Absolutely. Whoever installs does not even need to know what you intend to use it for. Just call it a clean-out pipe (4 inch PVC), and then you can drop your camper sewer hose right in it. Put a screw on cap on it. I you live in town and tapping into the city sewer this way from your house, your in good shape. If your on a septic system, you can do whatever you want. Call it a "clean-out" no matter what though and have it installed as low to the ground as possible.

Maybe I was misunderstood. I like the idea. It was the part about dunnin it into the flower bed at a shallow depth that concerned me. If you can do it safely I sure wou8ld

Seriously - I put one in over 10 years ago (city sewer system) and I use it at the end of every trip. As other's pointed out, keep it as close to ground level as possible so you don't get pooling in the hose.

I have a clean-out in the front yard with a 4" screw plug. Two pieces of RV sewer hose will reach it.

You might have trouble getting an rv dump station installed. What you need is is a "sewer cleanout" (same thing different name). Here you don't even need a permit to have it added in event of an emergency (wink wink).

Thanks for the replies! For the record- the house is on the city sewer system. I use enzyme chems.

Jasult- thanks for the pic. I can see a similar outlet in the flower bed. I'm thinking one below ground level might fill with mud and debris.

I installed my "cleanout" so it's about 4 inches above ground level. I also cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon pail with no handle, and used it to line a hole around the "cleanout". The hole was then filled with crushed stone to contain and drain off any minor spillage when connecting or disconnecting the slinky.

To house the 4" PVC pipe I used a lawn irrigation sprinkler box comes with a cover set it ground level I put about 4" of crushed rock below. Works perfect as stated it is a clean out not a rv dump.

We have one in the flower bed and would hate to ever live where I couldn't have one. I don't use it often but it can be very helpful at times.

Many recent septic tanks have an inspection clean-out on the inlet T. My tank is located in the front flower bed about 20' from the end of the driveway at the garage. I just unscrew the cap and put my Sewer Solution end fitting right in. The slope is effectively level between the RV dump outlet and the clean-out, but the Sewer Solution gizmo has no issues pushing everything into the septic tank.

I don't dump via this method every time, but do so usually at least 6-10 times a year. The septic is 14 years old, dating to when the house was built, and zero issues.
