home made shower?

when i had my bubble top camper van
my outside shower en-closer was one of those you had to unroll then air up the top and bottom rings, then hang it from something like a tree or a home made frame
of course any breeze made it blow around, so it would bang into you while trying to shower from the "Sun Shower' hot water bag

Mine even had the directions printed on a tag attached to the shower popup - I always felt like I needed to be an octopus to get it to fold properly.....

I bought one of the "pop-up" types for showering at rustic sites - and the thing was crazy-difficult to twist and fold back into its "circle". I like the one from Walmart that isn't a popup model.

Just a note. I've been at many CG's that do not allow any type of pop up tents, ez up canopies etc on the RV sites. So keep that in mind or ask if you always stay at your favorite CG.

Saw one on another rv forum in the last week or so, made out of a blue tarp and a bunch of 1/2 pvc pipe. It was attached to the trailer side with either suction cuts or Velcro, don't recall which. Wasn't bad for boondocking, the plan was to wear bathing suits. Had a quick connect on the shower hose so they could insert a longer hose when needed.

Every one of the photos of shower tents posted thus far are tents that are FAR too narrow. Believe me, you will regret buying something that narrow. No room to move at all, no room to dry off, constantly bumping into tent sides while trying to shower.

I know the OP asked about a home-made shower stall, but if you decide to purchase a shower tent, do yourself a favor and buy a decent one. Stay away from the Walmart stores and get one that looks like this...you won't regret it. I paid $50 for mine on ebay, but it looks like they are around $100 now.

Our set up is super simple. I use 2 lantern hanger poles, step-push into ground. put up one shower curtain with rope. I angle it near outside shower just to give me some privacy to rinse our suits when we come in from the beach. I want that 'tiny' bit of privacy on some occasions. When not in use I push the shower curtain out of the way so it isn't just hanging there looking ugly. I think the pop-up shower things are ugly LOL, just my opinion. Another gadget to deal with and I don't want to carry more stuff with me at all so I opt for my little privacy curtain which is enough for what we use it for we need a rinse down while in our suits. We don't 'do real showers' outside, we do rinse downs from swim time. My RV is where I take a real shower :)

we have one of the outside showers. we purchased a small blow up wading pool. this fits inside. we have a small table in also. put 2 small plastic tubs in. 1 for wash water, other is for rinse water. works great. have had camp neighbors ask to use it to rinse off kids before bed.

My wife, two daughters, and I used an outside shower for years while tent camping or boondocking with our small TT. We used a home made hoop and shower curtain when necessary, but in the more remote locations we didn't bother with it.

That's what I was thinking.

Of course in a public park with people around you would want to pull your swim suit off after getting behind the curtain. Then throw it up over the hoop while showering. Then put it back on after the shower.
