The stores do NOT have to have a sign or purple post, as it is a county ordinance. The fine for the first offense is $75 and they rigidly enforce it, usually at 3AM and then they give you 15 minutes to pack up and leave. And yes, it was using storm sewers as dumping stations, which was the last straw that brought the ordinance about, many years ago.
For the OP, there is the Miccosukee Indian Casino just a few miles north of Homestead that has a lot you can park in overnight.
Homestead is in Miami Dade County not Monroe. Since I live in the county I have been by this Walmart when they allowed parking of Rvs overnight. One other problem they were having was that some people used it has a CG and would stay much longer then over night.
