Horn suggestions?

Our F250 is all black, it's a super cab with long box and canopy and is 4WD. Has plenty of testosterone and looks bigger and more bad *ss compared to many other trucks. However it has a wimpy girly-sounding horn like you'd have in a Honda Civic and is almost embarrassing to use.

Have been thinking about an upgrade to something louder. It would be nice to have something that couldn't be missed when I need to use it, especially when towing our TT. Don't want to spend a lot or something super loud like a train sounding air horn. Is there a typical sort of horn to upgrade to in a truck?
  • My Hadley Bully air horn lets people know I'm there. They probably think a semi is about to hit em when I use it.
  • I have a set of Horn Blasters. Its a 3 horn set up with a 3 gal tank (wish it was a 5 gal tank)and a Viair compressor that goes to 200#. It has an air hose chuck in it so I can use it for emergency to air up a low tire ect..

I've warned the wife that someday this will be in my truck... but I want to get one with more sounds, especially farm animals. That's important!

I was playing around at an off road park one time and this old beat up ford f-350 comes barreling over a hill with ice cream truck music blaring through his PA system lol

that was the day i decided i MUST have a PA system in my truck
  • I put the Wolo Bad Boy from HFT on my bounder in place of the factory GM horns. Loud enough but lacked depth. Rewired the Bad Boy with a relay and reconnected the OEM horn. With both horns the sound is deeper and loud enough that some of the idiots that enter freeways without speeding up or letting cars doing freeway speed pass, do take notice.

I have recorded the reaction of some of those jerks that are busily talking to a passenger or their non- hands free devices, they can be funny. Seeing a passenger's head whip around so hard he probably got whiplash and the back end of the car drop dramatically as the driver floored the accelerator when he saw me 10 feet away was priceless.

The DW doesn't believe in honking for many things but when she is doing her best at defensive driving and folks just keep doing stupid things like talking with their hand held devices or texting and they make her lock up her brakes, she loves the horn.
  • A lot of people from NYC on this forum. :B

I don't even know if the horn works on my 10 YO truck.

Wow, you must be blessed or the most passive person in the world!! Never in ten years had someone try to change lanes on top of you. Never had some kid on their iPhone texting through a green light.

Very seldom do I lay on the horn, most of the time it is those doing all the other things other than driving, especially at traffic lights, usually a light tap wakes them up.

A friend of mine who commutes an hour for work wanted something with a bit more than the stock horn. He got a "european" style dual horn - loud with an ear screeching tone. Gets the attention of other drivers - when needed.
