but a couple of posts earlier you said "On subject, I don't believe it happens. I don't believe that drivers "cut you off" and SLAM the brakes when only a few feet in front of you. " so you contradict yourself.

You missed the my post where I said that as soon as they begin to come into my lane, I touch the brake with my right foot. This does several things, it alerts the traffic behind me, it cancels the cruise control, and my vehicle decelerates. Then, by that time, I've applied some pressure to the brake pedal, and the offender arrives into my lane. Also, if by that time, he/she were to slam on the brakes, there would be ample distance between us to do what I need to do (recall that I started to slow down before they did, and I'm in full control of my rig). Another thing is that my toad and my 2 trailers are equipped with inertia brakes. I've never jacked-knifed a towed anything.
