Horses are magestic animals and I'd hate to put one in harms way. But I wouldn't put a horse's life over that of a fellow human being (passengers in the car). Ever.
When you're towing livestock you may have to drive even more defensively than when towing anything else. That means watching what's going on around you and expecting others to do stupid things.
I spend too much time driving in the Houston area and can't begin to count how many drivers have cut across a few feet in front of me to exit from two or three lanes over. Haven't run into one of them yet or even come close to locking the brakes to avoid them. You just learn to watch for them.
The thought of ramming them has certainly crossed my mind but it would be the furthest thing from defensive driving imaginable. It is an enticing prospect though. ;)
