HOT AND COLD WATER HOSES

I had a leak at my outside shower. Every time I fix it, the leak starts again later on. I found out that Accuflex T2008 for COLD WATER was used on the Hot and Cold water lines. They were connected to pex hoses through T fittings. Not good when hot water runs through the cold water only flex tubing. This is what caused the leaks. Anyone else have this problem?
  • Shower leaks are common ... I got tired of messing with it and finally pulled the shower and caped the lines - many other have done the same.
  • If you cap the lines, which would suit me just fine, what do you about winterizing the lines?
  • You don't cap at the end where the shower is you cap at the beginning where the lines "tee" off to go to the shower.
Or better, install a shut-off there and keep it closed. That could be reopened to sell the unit.

Lines drain when you open the low point valves.

Not when they're holding a vacuum.

One thing about hot/cold water lines.. I have seen lines labeled "LOW PRESSURE ONLY" and upon research they consider 180PSI to be low pressure.

I'm wondering what they consider "HOT" .. (Since I do not know, I only post the question.. Feel free to ignore it, or research the answer)

On my coach hot pipes are a different color.
  • Accuflex Series 136 (T 2008) is perfectly suitable for cold and hot applications. Its suitable working pressure for cold water is 150 psi, and for hot water is 60 psi. This means that it's test pressure is at least 300 psi at 70 degrees and 120 psi at 122 degrees.

  • Not to changing the subject but. The hose on our outside rinsing hose, not really a shower but it is both hot and cold, needs a longer hose and to be on a reel. Thinking, of changing it to a hose fitting. It seems to be full pressure from the hose.
    Anyone done that?
  • Thank you guys for the responses. I too have caped the ends to stop the leaks. Outside showers are worthless.
