Only thing OP has as info is RV is a 2013 Model......

Atwood changed designs in late 2003........so ALL 2004 and newer do NOT have an on/off switch at back of WH Tank.


But without Brand/Model and better description of what it is NOT doing/what it DOES do will get better responses.

Didn't say it was protected during the winter or kept charged. This would be the starting point.

You have provided little to no info. Like What brand, what size, etc. With such limited info here are a couple of things to try. Be sure the burner and ignitor are free of spider webs. Be sure the heat tube thru the heater is clear. remove the burner and ignition parts and drag a small rag bundle thru the tube with a wire. Battery up. Turn on the gas and run the stove burners and all the other gas appliances too. After setting all winter the gas lines need to be filled with gas and the air pushed out.

On the electric if it is an Atwood there may be a 120 volt switch at the back of the heater. On a suburban the 120 v. switch is probably on the front of the heater. You'll see it when you open the outer door.

Make sure its full of water by popping the relief valve in the outside cover. Try the reset buttons on the left beside the propane valve there. Electric switch below them is on. Be certain your winterizing valves on the back of the water heater are in operating position. Check propane flow by lighting the stove, electric heating element with a multimeter at its contacts for both ac voltage and ohm resistance.

Atwood uses 12V DC for controls........relay triggers AC to electric element, DC circuit board, DC T-stats, DC for propane

Suburban doesn't...........AC directly for electric element, separate AC t-stats
DC for propane, separate AC t-stats

SO........which BRAND/MODEL??????

Might need 12 volts to have a relay operate. Definitely put a voltmeter on the battery.

Are you sure the tank is filled? Did you pull the relief valve to see if water came out?

if you have not charged that battery from last year, I,d start there. your frig and other things need 12v weather your plugged in to shore power or not.

Checked water, did forget it at first but remembered there was a second switch to flip. So I got water.

Is it filled with water? Is it in bypass from winterizing and high limits tripped?
