- toedtoesExplorer IIII disagree that it's always back to the parents. I've known parents who were the best and the kid is selfish, inconsiderate, etc. I've known the worst of parents who turned out great kids.
How you're raised is only part of it. But it is also about an individual's own psyche. Spoiled brats, narcissists, etc., aren't always created. Many times they are born like that.
And a parent who raises child A to be a great adult can also use the same exact approach on child B with disastrous results - because the kids connect to the world differently.
I've also known many older folks who were "good people" in their younger years but have become selfish and greedy and such in their later years because they have determined they now deserve it. They are just as bad as the "young generation" that gets so much blame (every generation). - CroweExplorerI disagree that it's always back to the parents. X2. Quite often it is but if it's always the parents then explain how 3 kids in one family, all parented the same, can turn out so different?
because the kids connect to the world differently.
Can't stress how so true this one comment is. I teach kids how to shoot. We have basic rules that everyone has to follow. All learn different, all behave differently. The world in general would be a much better place if we didn't "cookie cutter" our approach to life in general.
Back to the OP: Glad you are OK and weathered the storm. Also agree with the sign-sometimes the adults are the issue! - SidecarFlipExplorer IIIDogs have fleas, dogs leave hair behind and some dogs defecate in the room too.... and whizz and they don't use the commode.
I always stay in a no smoking no pet room in any motel..
But then I prefer a dog over a lot of humans. - gboppExplorer

Actually, this sounds like some humans I've encountered. :E gbopp wrote:

I worked retail for years. I cleaned dressing rooms for this kind of stuff. I also worked at a boarding kennel. Trust me, the dogs were a LOT cleaner. And when they did make a mess, they were embarrassed and ashamed.... - JimK-NYExplorer III have never seen a dog that looked embarrassed or ashamed. Dogs often have fleas. Fleas infestations can be nasty and expensive and those of us who are allergic to flea bites would not even once consider staying in a pet friendly motel. Dogs also do not wear underwear and have a tendency to rub their butts on upholstery and bedding. Yuck!!
These sorts of issues, along with bed bugs, poor sanitation and infrequent laundry of outer bedding are among the reasons I enjoy having my own RV to sleep in. - toedtoesExplorer III

Flea treatments have improved so much over the past 30 years, that there is no reason for a dog to have fleas. My dogs got treated the day they came home with me and have not had a flea since.
As for dogs rubbing their butts on stuff, I think you'd be surprised how many people wipe themselves with towels, sheets, etc. - rockhillmanorExplorerThey change the sheets everyday, but do not change the bedspreads.
So how much stuff you think is on those bedspreads!
Hmmm... Average 2 people per nite per day x 365 x how ever long the motel has been open.
That's a whole lot of people sleeping in one bed!
Yup and that's how this is related to RV'ing. I KNOW who's been sleeping in my bed, in my MH, me.
