Not sure what is considered a hobby but I love to Kiteboard.

    Tell us about kiteboarding?
  • Were Ham radio operators and like to rock hound and metal detect too
  • Kiteboarding is a water sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, and gymnastics into one sport.

It works great because it does not take up that much room. I store the kites and board under the bed in the back of our van and we stop at places that look fun. You are able to kite more than windsurfers (more wind is typically needed) and the board is much smaller than a surf board.

Most people that I have met getting into the sport are retired. Initial startup costs can be high if you buy new, I found things on Craigslist and was up and running for under $1k.

  • Metal detecting with a Garrett Ace 250 and a Garrett pinpointer. And a HPI Savage XSS 1/8 scale monster truck. It has a Picco .28 Nitro fuel motor.
