House Refrigerator VS RV Refrigerator

Been looking at new 5th wheel trailers about half coming with house refrigerator (110 volt only) and the other half coming with large RV refrigerator (propane, 110 volt).

Not sure if going with a house refrigerator is a good way to go in a 5th wheel. We don't full time, so the trailer would be sitting three weeks each month only getting use one weekend a month. So does anyone have thoughts on which refrigerator would be the best way to go?

Thanks,
Craig

  • I like the idea of the RV refrigerator for but the way they seem to be pushing the house units just wasn't sure which is why the question.

Did ask two of the factory reps if the house unit could be changed out for a RV unit. They said yes for an extra $1,800.00, of course that could be why they are pushing house units instead of RV refrigerators.
  • With propane we stock our refridge the day before our camping trip then switch to propane while traveling, then switch back when docked at our campsite. That's the advantage I see with RV/propane refrigerators

  • You're probably going to get some mixed responses here, I think its personal preference, really.

If you travel a lot, then you probably do not want electric only. If you are parked at a permanent site, then elecctric only is the way to go.

But one thing YOU do need to consider. You can run a 2 way, or 3 way refrigerator on Gas if you hooked up to electric or NOT. You can run the gas when traveling too. But if you have an electric only, and you are not hooked up to electric, your refrigerator won't work either. You'll probably find yourself using ice chests packed with ice and you'll wonder what good is that refrigerator for anyway.
