How can WE control what we see?

I've not previously felt the need for this forum feature and had to search to see if it existed. If you should be annoyed by a bloviating braggart self promoter splashing himself all over the forum, for example, there is help. Click "My Forums" and you will see a tab "Block Members." This easy to use feature will save you from having to wade through piles of patronizing BS. Can put multiple folks on the list if others should pop up. Enjoy!

  • I choose to thicken my skin and just ignore. Why feed their ego by blocking them?

I prefer to poke the bear

Yabut we're on to you! :B

I would have to disagree with that. Some people's posts just aren't worth reading. There is a tool which makes not wasting your time very easy to accomplish.

Blocking does not remove the whole thread, it only removes posts by that person that is blocked; Unless the person that is blocked started the thread. You will see the blocked persons thread if someone else quoted it. And it does leave a little bar that tells you a person you blocked has posted in case you're in the mood for some diarrhea of the mouth.

The "block" feature would only be useful so that you could eliminate vulgar and profane individuals...which is not a problem on this forum.

As much as I disagree with some forum members on certain topics, I'm not going to block them because they may very well have some good advice from time to time about a subject that interests me. My mother-in-law and I are on completely opposite planets in terms of our political views, but we don't shun her from the family because of it. We just choose not to argue about such matters and focus on things that are useful. Same concept here.

I enjoy reading those so-called "bloviating braggart self promoters" form time to time, because they almost always get smacked off their high horse by someone who's tired of listening to it.
  • I click on 'Newest' and check everything on the forums. If there's something that does not interest me, I ignore it.

If you block members, you sometimes don't understand what others are discussing because you didn't read the OP.

And, people you find annoying are like politicians. You may not care for what they have to say but, sometimes they have interesting ideas and opinions.

That's why I have never used the block feature. ;)
  • Although I am most likely blocked by several ..... I prefer to poke the bear

  • Have had a number of names on the list for a long time. And I am sure I may be on several lists also.
