It starts with my dad. One year, he rented a truck camper for our summer vacation. Two adults, four kids (one with a recently broken leg), and a dog. Dad drove with my eagle-eyed brother riding shotgun to read traffic signs. Mom rode back in the camper with the rest of us. (Hey, it was the late 60's.) From So Cal to Yosemite, Sutter's Fort, and San Francisco. We had a great time.
My dad was hooked. We would go to El Monte and look at the RV's on the various lots on Sundays. He decided he wanted a motor home and knew the difference between a Class A and a Class C. He rented a couple of motor homes to take cross country trips since my parents hated to fly. He was happiest driving those motor homes.
In the mid-80's, I got a job at Fleetwood Enterprises, working in Travel Trailer Product Development. At that time, Fleetwood was introducing the Bounder motor home. My dad was disappointed because I wasn't working in the motor home division. :B
My dad died suddenly and did not get the chance to buy that retirement motor home he wanted.
But I did get the retirement TRAVEL TRAILER I wanted!
