How do I open this Bargman 62 license plate light?

I have this Bargman 62 license plate light and need to replace a burned out bulb. I have not been able to figure out how to open it without breaking it. Pushing on what looks like a tab didn't ...

Yes.

But,,,I wonder if you can break out the glass and install a new bulb from the outside. If the light points down the missing glass will not hurt anything. What have you got to lose ?
