There is a herd (IMHO, Lemmings) mentality on this topic...toss in
questionable to very bad advice on these freebie forums...
Many come here looking for confirmation of what they want and wish to
hear...nothing else. They WILL get tons of that kind of advice and any
advice not wishing to hear...many will argue with derogatory comments
of "Weight Police" or some such...
Too many think it is all about HP to get it going, keep it going
at some high speed and do NOT understand or care about
braking/manhandling it
TV's are so good these days, that their design margins hide many of the
ills folks place on themselves...and many do NOT keep their TV's long
enough to reap the benefits of consuming the OEM design margins...to pass
that to the subsequent owners...
So, just because someone does whatever...does it mean that is right
or safe...it is their risk management decision(s)...AKA gambling...
Also, an example from about 10 years ago...took about 20 minutes to
finally find a safe section to pass a setup that was swaying across
two lanes of our direction...sometimes into the opposite side across
the double line...
Both the TV and trailer were nose high...the two folks in the front
seats were passing food between them...having a GREAT time...oblivious
to the dangers they were imposing on everyone around them.
Once past them, put as much distance between them and my Sub towing
a 8K utility trailer filled with wood-shop tools (lath, drill press, shaper, etc)
Never heard of an accident and assumed they made it thinking everything
was hunky-dory...:R
