Gas price swings in my city can go 5 cents either way. I don't sweat that, and get gas where it is convenient. 5 cents is about a buck when I fill up. When Im on the road, when Im ready to stop, I stop where it is convenient and unless there is a huge price difference, I don't worry about it.
Campgrounds, like alot of folks have said, it's based on what Im willing to pay. Two weekends ago, wife and I, at a relative short notice, decided to go to North Georgia to get away. State park was full. Went to a private campground. It's fall, and leaves are starting to turn. We found a place that was, in my opinion, overpriced, but we were willing to pay for it, because we wanted to go. It was $65 a night and the spots were SMALL. I had about two feet on one side (and about a foot on the other) of my TT with slides out. But, it was right on the river, and the time of year it was, I willingly paid it.
When I retire, I may change my outlook, but right now, if I want to do it, I do it, and I don't worry too much about the cost.
