- bigred1cavExplorerPut copious amounts of gasoline on the wood then give wife a very short match. Have her light the fire.
- KrustyNomad III spend the winter filling up a large bag with shredded paper from my paper shredder. A pile of this under some kindling, and light it with my butane torch.

I use twigs and a little paper and some shreds of cardboard if available under kindling and then some larger logs. The pieces of Duraflame logs or better yet some pieces of fatwood are nice to have as a backup when it's damp out. In a pinch potato chips will burn pretty hot for a few minutes.
Ya, we don`t like the boring people anyway! ;) - ependydadExplorerCedar gerbil bedding and some wax in a cardboard egg carton or the same in cupcake cups. Works beautifully - burns hot and long.

Campfires are old fashioned and dangerous and undesirable (by me). Isn't that the reason for RVs which have a furnace, a stove and micro-convection oven? In any case, you can see how I light MY campfire.....:B
I have a furnace in my sticks and bricks house but still enjoy a fire in the fireplace during the winter or in the fire pit on the patio anytime. To me, watching a fire is very relaxing and a good way to unwind from the day. I love to hear the crackling of the wood and enjoy watching the flame. I guess I'm old fashioned. ;) - GargamelExplorerI usually (ok. always.) bring beer camping. The beer box and whatever sticks might be lying around make great kindling to get a log going. I know you're not supposed to use sticks you find at the campground at most places but it's better than bringing in wood that could have pests.

Magnifying glass and a little pile of paper or other kindling.
Of course it helps if the sun is out.
