I use them alot. I have a collection of the black rubber bungees that I use for hauling with my truck and utility trailer, mostly building materials. I also carry a collection of rope for tying down. They are a miserable deal for storing if all packed together or left to lie with the ropes.
What I finally did was to install a few fasteners in my wood tool boxes that I also have. The screws are installed apart so that the bungees can be hooked on the screws. They still manage to fall off or tangle, occasionally, but it is a better storage situation than throwing them all together in a spaghetti pile.
A few years back I learned about stretching these bungees when loading. A new bungee I was using on my trailer broke and the flying hook end nearly blinded me. I reacted in time to turn my head so it didn't get my eye. Fortunately, it was one of the final indicators to not buy cheap Chinese junk from Northern Tool. Now, I won't buy a d*&^ thing from Northern Tool, I've been burned too many times by their Asian facsimile tools and supplies. Their return policy and CS is also the worst.
Edit: Wow, talk about bungees really wound me up. :o I better have another cup of Java, this AM.
