We like to keep it about 350-400 miles a day with the 5th wheel behind and about 400-450 miles going with the TC on the truck. If we only travel 200 or 300 miles in a day, so be it! We're retired and want no part of a rat race travel mantra anymore. Why make it a trip of long not fun days of seeing nothing but fuel stations, fast food places and other vehicles when you're not on a cramped time schedule anyway? Take time to enjoy life and the trip getting to somewhere as you earned it!
You're in Kentucky you did say I-75 which means going thru or around Atlanta and that puts lots of variables on travel times depending on the time of day and/or construction or accidents. We used to go from Michigan to Florida on I-75 and back 3 times+ each year and we've zipped right thru Atlanta a few times and other times it took 2-4 hours of stop and go and very rude drivers. Not fun and hated it! Atlanta is a real cr-ap shoot and highly unpredictable.
We've been doing the Florida trip for over 45 years now because we had our own place down there for 21 years and kept a boat there for 19 years but almost always took one of our RV's for the trip so we could stop at various places and travel around Florida and the keys as no moss grows under our shoes. Being stuck in one place gets very old! Got smart and sold the Florida place in 2007 just before the real estate crash and only use one of our RV's now and it's simply great!
Now, we go down I-65 to Montgomery, AL and then US-231 to I-10 to I-75 and even though it's 52 miles longer, it takes less driving time and the roads are as good or better and we're far more relaxed after each travel day. I miss Atlanta like I would a broken leg!
