We are relatively new to the RV life style. We have a 28ft trailer and while we've towed it a couple of hundred miles on weekend trips we haven't travelled any long days. Next month we plan to tow it about 1100 miles south to Florida along I75. By car I would typically drive 700 to 800 miles in a day. I know towing at 60 to 63 mph I can't cover that kind of distance. What is a comfortable day range? Can I make that in two days or should I plan three?ThanksDennis

We pull a 30' bumper pull, and almost always we average 50 miles made good per hour. So we try and keep in to no more than six hours of driving, so that's 300 miles a day. We can "Iron Ass" it if/when there's some pressing need. But six hours is about enough driving. We did some 12 hour days back before retirement, but that's just way too many hours and miles.Good luck....

Just did a trip of 600 miles in a 13 hour day,included gas and comfort/food stops. It got long by the end of the drive but had a place to park all lined up. If you decide to do it in two days have a spot waiting for you at the end of the first day.

If you can do 800 miles in a car you can do 600 with the trailer. "Comfortably" is probably closer to 400 to 500. I have done 750 in a car but never more than 500 with the trailer. I leave well before sun up if the day will be that long. If consecutive long days I prefer to taper the miles each day.

Of course, when we're working, our time is very precious. we try to get to our vacation paradise as quickly as possible so we can savor our time there. With that said, last year, we drove from Tucson to Salt Lake City in about 15 hours (800 miles). We stopped and stretched our legs every 2-3 hours.I'm retiring in 72 more days! So I can poke along as slowly or as little as I like. A 4-6 hour drive seems more reasonable.

If you have the time take 3 days. I like to start by 8am and look for a place stop and relax by about 3 or 4. With normal break stops and doing 60 to 63 I end up about 300 to 350 miles a day. Just my thoughts.
