I have a spread sheet I enter data from my GPS into. for every towing day I track miles, moving time, stopped time, total time, moving average, and overal average. Most of the time we do less than 200 miles per day. In 9 years we have towed almost 18,00 miles.
Daily averages for the last 9 years:
Miles towing 194.9
Moving time 3:45
Stopped time 0:50
Total Time 4:38
Moving average MPH 48.8
Overall average MPH 40.6
Longer towing days give better times. We did a 838 mile round trip last week, this was the return on Sunday.

Stopped time 1:00
Total time 8:10
Moving average 58.5
Overall average 51.3
When I am planning a long trip I plan for an overall average speed of 50 MPH.
