Actually, he's talking about the B-24 Liberator heavy bomber. B-17 was much sleeker looking in design, but the B-24 had a longer range and a slightly larger bomb load.

I think you're talking about the B-17 in WWII.
The B-52 is a jet bomber from the mid-fifties, and still in use today.
So, speed of assembly is not the important factor, it's the quality of workmanship.
The B-17 did very well in WWII.
