how fast do you tow?

Here is the math and the thread if you are interested. Like I said in this thread, about 140 miles/day. And on a 3 week vacation I can cover almost 3,000 more miles if I traveled every day or 1,500 miles if I traveled every other day.
BTW this is no theory. I live in a 55 MPH tow state and I cover WAY more ground when I get out of my state and into one that has a 75 MPH tow limit.

The way I figured it is that you would save about an hour a day driving 300 miles. Wouldn't you have to do that 24 times to save a days driving?

We towed our Fifth Wheel with the flow of traffic.
The original GY Wrangler light truck tires, factory installed, self destructed before it was two years old and took out skirting on passenger side.
We replaced them with a better tire and heavier rating from GY and never had another problem.
Bias ply tires on trailers were norm then. They don't act the same way as radial tires on tow vehicles and the handling suffers.
We put radials on the RV then.

Once they took Saint Christopher away from the traveler it was all over anyway!

coming down from Illinois earlier this week I kept it right around 64. At that speed the tires are just slightly warm to the touch when I check them in the rest areas.

I was surprised at the number of traps on 75 once I hit FL. Every couple of miles, and they were busy.
