- Rog___NanExplorerHad a tent for less than a year. Bought a used pop up kept it for 10 years. Bought small class A to see if it was “our thing”, had it a couple of months. Bought our current Class A brand new 22-1/2 years ago and never looked back. Absolutely have not seen one we liked any better that was worth the huge price difference.
- JoeHExplorer IIIso far 5 years on this MH, prior one was 13 yrs and the one before that was 5 or 6 yrs
- Mickeyfan0805ExplorerWe've had ours for 6, but have no expectation of selling until the kids are grown and we don't need a bunkhouse anymore. Probably at least another 5-6 years (if not more). I have no doubt that we will have it for at least 10-12 years. Even then, we may end up keeping it for a bit, as I don't know how much we will camp while the kids are in college.
As for the 2.5 year stat, averages are always misleading. The number of people in the RV industry that sell their trailer after 12-24 months is astronomical. On RVTrader, alone, there are currently 15,000 USED RV's listed that are 2016 and newer. There are only 9,000 in the 2013-2015 range, and only 4,000 in the 2010-2012 range. If I had to guess, I'd guess that the 'median' ownership tenure is probably more in the 5-7 year range, but the number of people who bail (and/or upgrade) after 1-2 seasons really brings the average down.
