I wonder if the old ones had better welds and heavier tubing. I had a "Traveler" in an old TC that was 30 y/o and worked fine.

I think this is true, at least someone posted on here that the tubing was thicker in the older models. I have a 20 year old Norcold 682IM and it is still cooling. The burner tube rusted out and needed replacement. A guy I camp with has a 1975 Norcold and has never cleaned the flue just blows out the rust out of the burner tube with a straw and is still working fine. I wonder if most of the problems that we read about hear are only with the Norcold 1200 or Domectic equivalent models?
