The 2-door Dometic in our '02 Georgetown died at 11 years old. It was a Swedish-made model with a Dometic name-plate and had a fixed temperature setting (no variable control). The cooling unit failed, but we decided to do a complete replacement, since the rest of the unit was also 11 years old.
The repair shop quoted prices for both a cooling unit replacement and a new fridge that were within 5% of each other, due to the greater amount of labor involved in the cooling unit replacement. The new unit had much better insulation and had temperature variability control.
The new owner of our rig has a 13-year-old RV with a 2 year old fridge!
