Doesn't much matter what WE would, have done or can do it in......we're NOT driving it nor are we you and your family.
IF going take what time is necessary for a safe trip. And then use that same time frame plus 1 day for return trip.
If that only leaves 3-4 days for visit so be it.
Better to get there safe and get back home safe (with one day to recoup before having to go to work) then to have family gathering at a hospital or morgue
Explain what YOU are going to DO to family and WHY.
Otherwise they could be more reasonable and agree to meet someplace convenient for ALL.
(Family ......always telling others what THEY can do as long as THEY don't have to!!) :S
As a kid we would drive from Casper WY to Brookhaven MS---roughly 1450 miles one way.
DAD was independent owner/operator.....no work/no pay
3 days drive time each way (plus recoup day) took care of one week
Dad/Mom and 3 kids in old Oldsmobile.
