Wonder why those relatives are more concerned about the OP showing up than his safety? Family must be pretty self centered to make such a demand on him and his family. My own traveling is limited to ~ 200 - 250 miles per day, usually, due to driving fatigue.... with an occasional 300 miles. Not everyone has the same driving stamina ...

They think we are making excuses and they don't understand the difference between driving while towing and driving while not. They don't understand it takes longer to fuel up (and have to fuel more often), we have to take longer breaks and can't do other things like swing through a drive-thru for food.
We've been getting an earful from my sister in law about how we need to make more of an effort to see the family...blah blah blah. For the record, we do see everyone - just not all at the same time like she would like - Oh the family drama! haha
Also, two of the siblings are single with no kids...so, they just don't get how we can't just up and go whenever we want. With our two kids in high school...not so easy.
Yes, better safe than sorry is our view.
