Had several years back our apartment managers, mid 80's at the time, made a trip from Elkhart IN to to Wenatchee in central Washington State to see their daughter. Left on a Tuesday and back late the following Wednesday. The next morning I saw him and asked what time their plane landed, his response "Since the Army Air Corps in WWII I won't fly, saw too many crashes in England, so we drove." Asked what the rush was, response "After 3 days guests and fresh fish are better gone". I though he was kidding, but his wife told me "We were even stopped for 1/2 hour by a State Trooper in Montana, who questioned our plates being valid due to their month sticker placement being different than ours." 2067 miles one way from downtown Elkhart, one long week. Our normal rate of RV travel at 200 miles a day stay for 2 days then on, would have taken us at least a month just to get there, and we're over 25 years younger.
