Basically the difference in responses is age/ability/preferences of the drivers and those with the notion that even an A to B road trip should be taken with "time to smell the roses."
if the OP has not driven far enough to know how far they can travel in a day, maybe this ain't the trip for them.
Oh and weather can be good or sucky between CO and MI.
Used to drive it once or twice a year, Chicago to Denver. 16-18 hrs most of the time. 34hrs once following a blizzard across the plains.
