Cummins12V98,
Have to mremember that it was spreadout over nearly 50 years. Will be 50 in March 2014.
Wife just reminded me of our 1990 12' X 36' park model Casa Villa RV purchased new that we had on one of our plots of land up north in Michigan which we used for trail motorcycling etc and snowmobiling before we replaced it with one of our 5th wheels, the 36' Carriage 3 axle Chaise model with 2 slideouts. That's the RV that had a tree fall on it going thru the roof when we were on a trip following the Missouri River from the Firehole River in Yellowstone which becomes the Madison River down stream and then joins the Gallitin and the Jefferson at Three Forks in Montana to become the Missouri. We were gone 6 weeks and not sure when the tree fell but the carpet inside was floating from rain water and everything was soaked up. Tree stopped approx 1 foot above the bed so we're real happy we weren't there!
Our Insurance totalled it and I bought back the carcass real cheap and sold it to a good friend north of us who repairs RV's for a living and he totally rebuilt it over the winter. He was laid off each winter for about 3 months anyway and had access to a 20' high inside heated building where he worked and besides, it was always heated anyway so it didn't cost him. It's their cabin away from home now. He did a great job as it looks better than new as he hand carved the trim throughout and put a gas/electric fireplace in with a hand carved mantle.
Then we'd pull/take one of the other RV's to the land up there after that. Had 4 plots (acreages) up there in the National Forest and have sold 2 of them now but still have 2 in that location and at 72, that's more than enough up there to care for along with all our others and STUFF!.
