Tolls cause more truckers to take surface roads and then they get tore up and are less safe. If the cost of trucking went up then maybe the railroads would be a cheaper option for the longer hauls. When the heavier trucks that the government has oked for the highway tear up the roads and they are replaced are the road builders still using the old standards or are they building them for the new loads? Doesn't seem like new construction stays in good shape long either.
I'm still in the camp of poor/corrupt use of our tax money we already spend.
