RoyB.....Your definition of how they work couldn't be more wrong. That may be how they work in a "Barbie" dream house, but not how the quality models work.
We bought our new coach off the lot and it came with three things that people often ask about. A stacked washer and dryer, dishwasher and fireplace. The stacked washer and dryer was a must have and the dishwasher and fireplace probably would have been something we would have passed on if they weren't available at the time.
Now that we've had the coach for about a year, we love the dishwasher. We eat a lot of meals on paper plates, but still use a lot of silverware, cups and bowls. We just place the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, like at home, and then turn it on every three days or so. It's so quiet you don't know it's on.
Lastly, the fireplace was nice, but living in California, we didn't know how often we would use it. However, it's been great! It has a two speed 1500 watt heater and warms the front of the coach (living area) in short order. I can adjust the look of the fire and even turn it off and just use the heater. Ours has depth and several adjustments making the fireplace look very realistic.
When someone asks how a specific RV product works, I give NO VALUE to someone's opinion who has never owned or used one.
