How to avoid Mice thru Winter Storage

I wouldn't use moth balls for the environmental effects and the dryer sheets probably make nice nest bedding. If you don't have a cat (or a disinterested one), coyote, fox, or other animal urines (sold at hunting goods stores) makes a good rodent repellant. I know some folks have good luck with Fresh Cab but I haven't used it so can't say how effective it is.

One thing you can do immediately is remove any pathways into the RV. Any access holes or inviting looking structure should be closed. eliminated, or even treated. Good luck with the mouse problem.

I recently had a problem with a rat in my engine compartment. After cleaning up all the debris, I placed 3 Fresh Cab packets inside the engine compartment. The very next day when I opened the hood, there was evidence the rat had spent considerable time next to one of the packets (food residue and poop). I have returned the Fresh Cab for a refund. It didn't work for me. Snap traps eventually caught the culprit.

I've used Fresh Cab for the last two winters and would do so again this winter but now can't get it here in Canada so I've asked a friend in the US to bring some up for me next time he comes up this way. Works for me. :B

If you're not convinced you might consider this spray on product called Mouse Free ... I've never used it and probably wouldn't because of the work involved, but you might. ;)

Get some RAT poison. Not the grain type but the green blocks. Put a number of them in and around the RV -- you can not have too many. Since they are solid blocks you can throw them into hard to reach places -- under drawers and by the water heater etc. They will last a number of years.

You can also close up every single hole which would deny the rodents access.

I don't know if you can ever truly 100% mouse proof an rv. Go over it with a fine tooth comb and plug any holes you can find , then if they are still getting in then load up with mouse traps , I use pb as bait, set the them to a hair trigger and place where the poop trails are. be sure to check and empty every so often. I don't like using poison, Ive had them crawl into the worst possible places before they expire.

Several cotton balls with peppermint oil will keep them out. Had some mice earlier this year, peppermint oil cleared them out and haven't seen any sign of them since. I also rubbed some of the oil on the top edges of most of the drawers.

I'm in the seal it up so the mice can't get in school. That means getting underneath and looking for any holes and filling them with spray foam, possibly with steel wool in the foam. Turning on lights inside may help in finding the holes. If you have a power cord where it is stored, don't forget to seal around the cord.

We put Bounce Fabric softeners throughout the entire RV. In drawers, under sinks, in rooms, floors, storage area etc. Cheap deterrent and keeps the RV smelling good. They have to be Bounce.
