How to carry a motorcycle/scooter on Class B?

What do you guys think of a motorcycle dolly/caddy? Apparently its hard to reverse with one of those and has the tendency to jackknife. But I wonder how much I'll actually be reversing as I usually just pull through parking spots anyway. But there's always the inevitable situation where I'll have to back up.
I've also heard concerns about wearing down your scooter's rear tire, but then I've heard that since its not the one doing breaking and accelerating that it doesn't affect it much.
And this might be a stupid question but would it add mileage to my scooter to pull it along like that?
