For several years I carried a Harley Sportster on the FRONT of our old gas motorhome powered by a Chevy 454, which are notorious for running hot. It never overheated. Lots of air still gets around teh bike and much from underneath.
I built the ramp/carrier out of aluminum channel. It worked great.
Hmm.. now I'm conflicted again. Haha. Not sure what to believe at this point. I would still like to put it in the front but according to etrailer.com they don't make front hitch receivers for my van. So I'm still interested if anyone has any ideas about that.
A Sportster is a nice open frame cycle
not the plastic enclosed box that the Helix is
the Helix rides real nice, like Barko lounger with a motor
the Helix will block much more air flow than the Harley
unless maybe you offset it so the open area is directly in front of the radiator, but this will mean 80% of the weight is off center to one side of the Front of the Van chassis
with the Helix and a Sportsmobile, i think a trailer or Idaho tote, are much better choices
