Maybe those are different people but I agree that humans can be pretty irrational beings.
The water heater uses much less propane, plus it will add any waste heat to the interior anyway.
We turn them both on when we arrive and off when we leave but we're not full timers either so buying propane a few times a year is not a bother.
Those crazy humans leave their gas or electric water heaters on all night in their stick home too.
