How to transport multiple tiki torches

Does anybody have a good way to carry tiki torches when on the road?

Requirements and disclaimers:

  • I have 10 torches.
  • The cans lift out of the poles.
  • I am boondocking.
  • I am not near any other campers.
  • I am in the desert so I'm not going to burn the place down.
  • you will not be camped anywhere near me.
  • I'm not worried about light pollution at night, in fact that's my objective for this trip.
  • My nearest neighbor is at least a mile away.

I'm looking for a way to carry the can ends of the tiki torches so they don't spill. The poles can just lay in the passthrough, the cans need to stay upright.

Has anybody made a suitable carrier to keep the cans from tipping over when on the road?

Thanks
  • we place 2 of the torch cans in a sealed ziploc storage bag. They are emptied first into the fuel containers. This is done so the storage does not smell like fuel.
  • Rubbermaid with a insert with holes that you can cut out each one in individually, plywood like a previous post. I always wanted to do it because they can get messy but I ended up just not aking them anymore mainly because of the mess.

  • At Christmas they sell Rubbermaid containers for Christmas tree decorations, they have dividers in them.

Why not just get a suitable piece of plywood? Cut holes in it with a hole saw or jig saw, and attach some wooden blocks in the corners to get the correct height. It would be secure and sturdy.

That's what I was thinking. Then put the plywood in a plastic bin.
  • WE have ours in a milk crate. Something I would do is empty the torches into a mason jar you can seal for transport. Our tiki's "not really tikki's" are mason jars filled with oil with the wicks through the lid. WE put the wicked lids in plastic bags and the jars get new lids for travel.

  • I'm thinking a couple of these. Don't steal, you should be able to find them somewhere:

  • Rubbermaid bin would be your best bet. Cheap and simple.
