Basically the problem is that Obamacare provides money for Medicare, so if they repeal Obamacare then Medicare will be insolvent. And some people, like Paul Ryan, see this as an opportunity to get rid of Medicare at the same time. It is a socialist program, after all, and some people really hate socialism, even when it is popular.
I started this discussion because I wanted to know what people were thinking about the issue. I did not expect to learn that most people didn't know about it.
I'm glad to see, though, that the GOP seem to have given up on their goal from 2 years ago, of targeting social security, too. Hopefully that third rail will remain too to touch.
