The sad thing is that while the OP may be worrying over nothing, the OP has been polite and non-aggressive throughout. Can't say that for the other posters.
Maybe the country would be in a better state if people would address the supposed misconceptions rather than just attack the person asking the questions. The majority of folks above have condemned the media for being biased and/or fear-mongering, but none of them have actually tried to provide any facts to counter the OP's thoughts. So, how exactly are folks supposed to know "real facts" if no one ever shares them? Where would someone find them if they aren't on the news, in the newspapers, on the internet, etc.? For those saying there is nothing to this, how about linking to some of those "real facts" so others can get educated?
We're tearing this country apart because everyone wants to spout their truth, but no one wants to bother sharing where they got that truth or how others can find it. At least the OP has shared her sources and reasoning behind her thoughts - that's more than those condemning her.
