Thanks much for your two links above on research & development into huge electrical storage methods.
IMO, those types of mega-storage technologies are what it's going to take to really get the world converted to solar power from fossil power. Why not make use of the world-wide wired distribution systems already in place ... but feed them with solar sourced energy from huge solar farms combined with mega-storage?
I'm all for electric vehicles (assuming long ranges even when using headlights, heaters, air conditioners, etc.) ... but with their recharging stations located everywhere and fed by already existing wired grids sourced from large scale solar farms with mega-storage onsite or close to the solar farms. How are we going to recycle all those gas station pumps and underground tanks? :h
