I-90 Toll Road Cost

$100 w/ezpass not including Indiana, their toll calculator doesn't work on my pc.
$113 wo/ezpass.

Used 4 axles.

Last I checked, you can use your EZPass for all tolls/highways from Illinois to Maine and down to North Carolina.

Under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, all toll roads are required to allow the use of one transponder for the entire nation by October 1, 2016.

As someone else mentioned, consider getting an EZ-Pass. They're available at any oasis on the IN Toll Road and in many other states. For $10 you'll get the transponder which includes $8 in credits, and you'll pay about 40% less in tolls and not have to wait in line to use cash.

EZ-Pass is accepted in IL, IN, OH, PA, and several other states, and in several of them you can just roll by in an express lane without even slowing down. Your account is tied to a debit or credit card, and fees are automatically applied.

We find it to be a great convenience and a considerable saving.

Forget the tollway...head south to US 30. Take that to Mansfield, OH, then I-71 to I-76 into Fort Wayne. Pick up I-80 there, cross PA on 80. Pick up I-81 in PA, take that to I-84 in Scranton. Follow 84 to its end at I-90 (Mass Pike). Much easier...and bonus: gas is cheaper.

Agreed, paying full price for a multi-axle tall rig is expensive! :E

Rates are based on number of axles and the vehicle height over the driving wheels: anything 7'6" or taller pays a higher per axle rate. It adds up quickly. Pulling a bumper pull trailer you pay the lower rate, since the TV isn't tall. But a 5th wheel adds height over the drive axles, and a motorhome is tall to begin with, so they pay the higher rates.

But if you have a motorhome and an E-ZPass account through NY, you can sign up for their Thruway Motorhome Discount Plan. With that special tag, you still pay by the axle, but you pay the lower passenger car rates, and you get the standard 5% E-ZPass discount.

PA line to downtown Albany with a tall 4 axle (2 motorhome, 2 toad) would cost $61.05.

That same trip in that vehicle on the discount plan is $28.36. Still expensive, but that's a significant savings!

Everybody who has a motorhome and has (or can get) a NY E-ZPass account should really be on this plan! :C

Being from NY and running I90 a lot. I would say it'd probably cost somewhere around $60 to $80 to run from NY/PA border to Albany. Its not cheap when you add axles and start getting big.

Or, you can stay on 80 through PA, jog over to 84 in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, then take 84 up to the Mass Pike.

80 through PA is free, scenic, and goes through no major cities.

Also, I detest giving any money to NY state. I drive through as little as possible. (Born and raised in NY) You're also not beholden to the crappy Thruway rest stops and service areas - expensive gas and bad food.

ETA: Mileage difference, according to my mapping program, is 16 miles. 874 vs 890.

That's what we did a couple of years back when we towed our fiver to Cape Cod from Northern Indiana. From Elkhart, you'd need to go south to US 30 if you want to avoid the Ohio turnpike, though.

Running I-86 then I-88 from the Pa/NY state line to Albany NY is only 22 miles longer then running I-90. Once you get near Albany on I-88 you'll be able to take side roads around Albany and pick up I-90 oce more right before the Mass Pike.

Plug in no tolls on your GPS. There are some very good highways that more or less parallel I90 till you get to I80 which has no tolls in PA. You will only lose a little bit of time.
