To the OP, it sure looks like the top bolt came out at some point. It looks like there is a hole in the wood from the top bolt. I guess the bolt worked its way out and all that weight was on the bottom bolt, which cracked the wood.
I would put a quality wood glue in the crack, then run some screws up from the bottom of the board to tighten the crack up until the glue dries. I would use slightly larger diameter bolts to hold that bracket in the framing.
Then I would get a piece of 2x3 or 2x4 and add a brace under that bracket to help support the weight. I would put a piece of 3/4" plywood under the bottom of the brace to help disperse the weight to the floor.
