Trouble is, if he does it himself, or has an unapproved repair done, successful or not the manufacture, could well hold that against him in the future if something else goes wrong with the slide.
And the larger issue, if he is not successful and or the warranty is somehow voided. He will never, ever, hear the end of it from the DW. LOL
