It is not just Texas. We applied to many, many parks in three different states in the east. Fourteen of them noted that the position was still open and they were actively seeking volunteers. We emailed those fourteen directly and included our telephone and e-mail address.
We only heard back from three. All of which offered us a position.
I do believe that these parks could have responded easily with the right computer program and data base. Major vendors acknowledge contact all the time. Just an acknowledgement and statement thanking us for applying and if we have not heard by such and such date, we could consider the position filled.
To those that did not respond: Sorry Charlie, we are no longer interested in you.
