I can't decide between a Hensley or ProPride Hitch.

We've decided that for us, its worth spending the extra dollars for either a Hensely or ProPride hitch. I know that are both basically using the same Hensley design and that the ProPride has a few upgrades, such as an adjustable hitch bar. Where as the Hensley uses fixed hitch bars that are available in 2" increments up to 8". Is that a huge issue?

My truck seems rather high, I measured 26" from the ground to the top inside edge of the hitch mount (the square bracket that the hitch slides into) and that has me leaning towards ProPride.

I'm planning to tow with my 2018 RAM 2500 CTD and we hope to purchase a Grand Design 2600.
  • At the time I bought my PP, there weren't many "deals" to be had for pre-owned, etc. So cost differences weren't much.
  • HA user here. The word on the stinger is right on... They weigh a ton. It takes both my SO and myself to put it in place. Yes, I could do it myself, but after 3 back surgeries I won't try. The word about not using adaptors is news to me and I will call the factory on Tues. The 2017 Ford F-350 comes with a 3" hitch so adapters are a must. I also need two stingers as the truck rides at two different heights depending on whether there are two ATVs on or not. Never had a problem hitching. Plenty pricey.
  • Flip a coin. Seriously. That's what your decision is down to.

I just hung up the phone to Hensley's tech line. Hensley does not frown on adapters. I told the tech person I have a 3" receiver and use two adapters. He told me that was fine and happy trails. His only suggestion was to line up the 2" to 2.5" adapters and tack weld them together so as not to hassle with so many pin holes at hitch time. Good tip... Fire up the welder...
  • That's strange. When I bought the new truck with the 2.5 inch receiver, I asked Hensley about using the adapter. Whoever answered the phone said they recommend getting the stinger that fits the larger receiver. I was getting a new one anyway due to the new truck being higher, so it wasn't a big deal. I was just surprised at how heavy it was.
