With enough force, the BAL X Chocks will pop out sideways and fly like a bullet. I know because I once forgot to remove one before I pulled out of a site. I felt a little resistance as I was pulling ahead and then I felt a jolt and heard a bang out my passenger's side window. The bang was the X Chock Flying about 80', close to horizontal and hitting the picnic table on the site next to mine.
I can see why you shouldn't depend on them like you can a good wedge type chock.

Did same thing but they did not fly that far. You and I were also applying much more force to the tires to cause this when we hit the accelerator. Placing them between the tires first, unhooking does not cause near this much force and I have never once in 4 years had one pop out when setting up the trailer. I have not used wheel chokes since buying these.
