I drove off with the antenna up...
Now I have a broken antenna. Are there alternatives to the crank up antennas? I'd rather have one stuck to a window or something else that can't be damaged. Thanks!

Which antenna did you lose... HDTV or SATELLITE....
If it was your OTA BATWING antenna you can replace the mechanism with one of this popular JACK Anetnna which sits close to the roof and only rotates... Of course you will lose some performance but won't have to worry about it being up or down...
If it was your SAT antenna you will have to replace with sometime similar. You will need the dish to pinpoint the satellite in the Southern Sky... They do make Satellite antennas that are flush mount to the roof...
